Speaker: Bob Hannon, President of the United Way Youngstown and the Mahoning County
by Sarah Marino

Bob Hannon, the President of the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning County addressed the club. Bob has only been on the job for 14 months. In that time he has been part of many changes that are starting to happen with the United Way. For 2010 the United Way is changing to Community Impact funding. This form of funding is based on assessing the needs of the community and funding the programs that work to combate those inconsistancies. The United Way looks to agencies that collaborate on program. The United Way funds program especially those that focus on the most vulnerable in our community.

The United Way is currently raising money to fund local programs in Mahoning County. The fundraising goal is two and a half million dollars.

The United Way is volunteer driven and the agency is always looking for new volunteers.

Bob concluded by saying that talks are underway for the merging of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana United Way agencies to become one entity.
