Rotary Theme 2010
The Future of Rotary Is in Your Hands
The 2009-10 RI theme acknowledges the important role individual Rotary clubs will play in shaping the future of Rotary.
RI President-elect John Kenny unveiled the theme, The Future of Rotary Is in Your Hands, on Monday during the opening plenary session of the International Assembly , an annual training event in San Diego, California, USA, for incoming district governors.
"The future of Rotary will not be shaped at RI headquarters -- it will be shaped in each and every Rotary club," Kenny said, "because it is for each of us -- as Rotarians -- to do what is necessary to keep Rotary strong."
Traveling Peace Arch by Tyler Davis
Thursday October 22nd, two members from the Bellingham club delivered the Traveling Peace Arch to our club.
The Traveling Peace Arch was instituted by Past District Governor Mel Hollinger, and it has traveled across the border between "Son's of a common mother" ever since. It is a Clubs' responsibility, when it is brought to a regular meeting by a visiting Club, to pass it on, in a cross-border exchange as soon as possible. The quickest exchange in its history being a mere 4 hours. Six Bellingham Sunrise Club members and guests visited White Rock Peninsula to bring the relic north of the border. (info provided by Carol Tichelman) A history of the travels of this jewel since 2003 can be viewed in the table below.
