The Rotary International Youth Exchange Program (RYE) is a remarkable tool for future world peace. BSWH members have been tremendously enriched by knowing the delightful young people we have hosted over the past few years, and we stay in touch after their year in Texas has ended.
During the summer of 2010, Ralph Rieger's family hosted Sara Chavez Padron from the Canary Islands as part of the short-term summer exchange program, and Ashley Riegers spent July with the Padron family before returning for the Fall semester at Baylor. During the summer of 2009, Phil and Sandi Nauert's daughter, Laura, traveled to Spain as part of Rotary's Short-Term Youth Exchange Program. Her Spanish counterpart, Mapi Sanchez-Ventura, from Zaragoza, Spain (a/k/a Saragossa in English), spent June in Houston with the Nauerts. BSWH sponsored outbound student Sergio Cartegena (HSPVA) to Belgium during 2009 and Nina Dworschak from Germany as our inbound year-long RYE student.
