Bellaire / Southwest Rotary supports clean water for the world both with funds and hands-on project labor. We have given grants to Living Water International and Pure Water for the World ~ Haiti, and have partnered with Beverly Hills Rotary on an international clean water project.
During the summer of 2009, Surpris Cherazard spent a week volunteering for a water mission, and former BSWH Rotarian Ashley Broadhurst trained as a water expert and went on three water-missions to Mexico. The photostrip shows a project at Yaxcheku, where Ashley tested water and signed the covenant to build a system. Ashley is a member of theWASRAG Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group.
Bellaire Rotary also awarded a grant to St. Thomas' Episcopal School InterAct Club, matching funds raised for Living Water International by the high school club members. All donated monies fund the drilling or workover of a water well in an impoverished country.
