At the start of the current Rotary Year the club had 49 active members and 2 honorary members. A goal for the current year is to increase membership by at least 10%.
An important aspect of increasing membership is to ensure that we retain new members by making them welcome and ensuring that Rotary meets their expectations. One of the key strategies that we will be using is to ensure that any new members are properly mentored by experienced Rotarians.
The mentors will ensure that the new member is fully informed about
1. The structure of Rotary at club, district and international levels
2. The past achievements of the club and if possible some of the key people who made these achievements possible
3. Current club projects and activities and the Directors who are responsible for them.
They will also discuss with the new member their aspirations for Rotary Service and discuss these with the relevant Board Members so that these aspirations are addressed.
Our club meets every Monday night and we enjoy a social evening with a speaker each week.
A major project for the club at the moment is funding Headspace so that the 3 state secondary colleges in postcode 3216 have a person who works with students in crisis across the 3 schools.
