For 18 years, the Prior Lake Rotary Club has sponsored the D.A.R.E. Bike-a-thon as a fundraiser for the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program in Prior Lake.  Our mission is to help our community's children make good decisions concerning the challenges they face every day in regards to alcohol, drugs, and violence.  Thousands of children and adults have participated in the Bike-a-thon over the years, helping us in our mission and creating a strong D.A.R.E. program in our schools.  D.A.R.E. DAY was created to bring new events,  energy, and excitement as well as bigger and better prizes to the program.

The Prior Lake Rotary Club is pleased to kick of D.A.R.E. DAY 2009!  This event will be bigger and better than ever, but we need your help!


What is it?
D.A.R.E. DAY 2009 is a morning full of activities featuring a one mile Fun Run, the 19th annual Bike-a-hon, food, prizes and entertainment.  his is an event for Prior Lake/Savage area students and their parents.  It is designed to raise money for the D.A.R.E. program in local schools.

When is it?
D.A.R.E. DAY 2009 will take place on Saturday, May 2nd.  Schedule of events:

• Registration: 8:15 am - 9:15 am
• One Mile Fun Run: 9:00 am
• Bike-a-thon: 9:30 am
• Awards Presentation: 10:45 am
  

Where is it?
D.A.R.E. DAY 2009 will take place in Lakefront Park.  The Fun Run is a one mile run inside Lakefront Park and the Bike Ride is a 5 mile loop through Prior Lake neighborhoods.  This is a fun, leisurely ride that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Fund Raising
Students will be asked to raise contributions for D.A.R.E. DAY 2009 and return them to their teacher on or before Wednesday, April 29, 2009.  Envelopes are included in this registration packet.  Please make certain that the permission slip on the envelope is signed and the prize desired is circled when your child returns it to their teacher.  Tax-deductible contributions received will be used for continued sponsorship of D.A.R.E. programs in the Prior Lake/Savage Area Schools. 


Prizes
All participants will receive a Prior Lake Rotary D.A.R.E. DAY 2009 T-shirt.  Prizes will also be awarded to students who  reach the following fundraising levels:

• Level 1 - $75 Level - Darin the DARE Lion, or Triple Play Sports Day Pass, or Minnesota Zoo Day Pass
  
• Level 2 - $150 Level - 4 Twins Tickets, iTunes or Target $50 Git Card, or Triple Play Sports Family Pass
  
• Level 3 - $225 Level - Rip Stick, or Portable DVD Player, or iPod 2GB Shule
  
• Level 4 - $300 Level - Nintendo DS, or 4 Passes to Water Park of America, or $100 iTunes Gift Card
  
• Level 5 - $500 Level - Nintendo Wii, or Bike, or iPod 16GB Nano, or 2 Valleyfair Season Passes
  
• Level 6 - $1000 Level - Pick 2 Items from Levels 1-5, or 4 Valleyfair Season Passes
  
• Level 7 - $1500 Level - Pick 2 Items from Levels 1-6, or a Laptop Computer
  

Additional prizes will be given away in random drawings the day of the event, but you must be present to win.


Join Us!
D.A.R.E. DAY 2009 will present safe and fun activities for the entire family.  Prior Lake Police Officers, Prior Lake Rotary members, and other volunteers will be stationed along the courses to ensure complete safety for all riders.  As always, the wearing of bicycle helmets is strongly encouraged.
