Literacy projects

The 3rd Grade Dictionary project - Debby Novotny spearheaded a project in 2005 to present an entire 3rd grade class with their very own dictionary to help promote literacy and encourage the youth of our community to explore the world of unique verbage.

Since then we have awarded more than 2,000 dictionarys to 3rd graders through out our Douglas County.  We also recieved a District Literacy Award in 2006 for this project and it continues today opening the door to superfelous excitement.

Books for Babes - To additionally support literacy in our community, every year Highlands Ranch Rotary Club, in conjunction with four other Rotary Clubs in the Douglas County and surrounding areas, provide a book to the parents of each newborn baby born at Littleton Adventist Hospital, Parker Adventist Hospital and Sky Ridge Medical Center.  With the book, parents receive information about reading to children, starting at a young age, to promote good reading habits in the future.
