About Our Club

Rotary Club of Thompson Valley, Loveland

Our club was founded April 14, 1989. The Loveland Rotary Club provided the organizational assist.

While we are a Rotary Club and seek to live up to all the objectives of Rotary as established by Rotary International, our club service focus is on youth and the enviroment. We are active within our local community and internationally.

Local projects we have worked on this year include; a Holiday party for families with developmental disabilities who are served by the Foothills Gateway Lecetek program including Santa, photos of the children with Santa, presents for all the children in the family and refreshments for all (Santa also made home visits with presents for those whose condition doesn't permit interfacing with the public); and a literacy project which includes a program for middle school students to author childrens books, publishing books for all 370 children in the Thompson School District early childhood program, and visits by Rotarians and the student authors to read to the preschool children. Each child was provided with a sturdy box to hold the library we are providing, training on proper care of books, and two books each month. Our club sponsors several students to the Rotary Youth Leadership (RYLA - high school) and young RYLA (middle school) camps held near Rocky Mountain National Park. We also donate to a number of community causes.

Internationally we have recently; partnered with a club in Tejacun Mexico to provide water cisterns to 100 families who receive water delivery only weekly; sent a representative to Nicaragua to help build a Habitat for Humanity Home; we continue our relationship with a micro-credit program in Seratov, Russia; and we have several other projects and donations in the works.

Our fundraising activities include a partnership with the Loveland Club in the annual Governor's Art Show, our own Valentine hearts project, and recently we acquired two pedal cabs that we use to provide entertaining transportation at local public events, for tips, and more importantly to increase our visibility in the community.

We have a lot of fun while getting to know other people interested in service - if that sounds like your 'cup of tea' please visit a meeting or send an email to our club president.
