Meeting the Polio Plus Challenge

Rotary International just announced that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has INCREASED the $100 Million Grant by another $255 million!  Of course it comes with a challenge again - another $1 million in matching dollars from Rotarians around the world, on top of the $1 million we have already committed.  That will be $555 million to eradicate this horrific disease once and for all!  We are so close.  Visit the RI End Polio Now page for more information: http://www.rotary.org/en/ServiceAndFellowship/Polio/Pages/ridefault.aspx?housead .

It has been over one year since The Rotary Foundation accepted the original challenge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and over $60 million has been raised already.  For this three year campaign to be successful RI is asking every Rotary Club throughout the world to contribute $1,000.  

Apple Valley Rotarians have met this challenge with a significant pledge of over $12,000.  There are currently 41 Apple Valley Rotarians who have agreed to pledge $25 per quarter over the next 12 quarters, or 3 years. If you have not signed the pledge sheet you can still participate by signing up with Doug.
