The program next week is the Kick-off to the Rotary Club of Cupertino and Cupertino Rotary
Endowment Foundation (CREF) Invest in the Future Campaign. This program will create
awareness of our Club's Endowment Foundation, why it is important and why we
are embarking upon a campaign to raise $555,555 in future legacy gifts and some
outright (or current) gifts. The focus of this program is not intended to
be an 'all Rotarian Hands' participation but rather it is strategic and
targeted to Rotarians with long-term interest in the Rotary Club of Cupertino. In
an effort to be inclusive and communicate fully, it was decided to have a
program so that all Club Members have an opportunity to hear the information
and not feel excluded. At the very least members should be aware of
the benefits of the Endowment Foundation, why it was established and why we
want to increase the future gifts. This will be an interactive, Q & A
format and by the end of the program will have provided information, awareness
and inspiration to Club Members. The program will be facilitated by Don
Allen.
President Liz opened the meeting by saying we were
celebrating 55 years of Rotary Service today and welcomed the guests and
honored guests. She asked everybody to hold a 10 second silence for people
affected by the earthquake in Chile and Haiti.
Nick Bogdanovich said he we had only a
few minutes to talk about one of the Rotarians who had joined in 1978, who was
and is the Membership Chair from 2008-2010, was Past President from 1982-1983,
was and is the Crab Feed Chair, President of CREF, had got the Ruby Award, had
a passion for pumpkin carving, was one of the early organizers of Eastern
Elegance, and had taken part in many Rotary events. This person was a source of
strength and a great support to his wife. He said by now most of us knew he was
talking about PP Jim Walker, a person who was a bundle of energy and who always
put service before self, an example to all and a mentor to Nick

From time to time club members want to submit information or articles to the Rotator. To do so, the information should be submitted to the Editor by 9 am Thursday.
Our editors are assigned as follows: First Wednesday - Tom Scannell; Second Wednesday - Krishna Kumar; Third Wednesday - Peter Troop; Fourth Wednesday - Helene Davis; Fifth - Wednesday - Helene Davis.
On occasion, the editors sub for one another. If you are unsure who the editor is, then it would be prudent to submit your information to all editors.
Have you noticed recently how great the slides are that are projected during our meeting. This is the work of Jerra Rowland. I am not quite sure what her title is. She may be assistant secretary or just plain technical wizard. More...
