Ross Spencer, representing Shelter Box Inc., was our guest speaker on December 8, 2009. As you view the aftermath of many major disasters, you will see tents as the temporary living quarters of many of these refugees. Proudly embroidered on the side of these tents is the Rotary emblem. The crisis in Haiti is no exception. Rotary District 6440 and this club, Rotary Club of Arlington Heights Sunrise, have responded to the latest disaster with District, club and personal Rotarian pledges and resources.

Mary Stitt was in Haiti two years ago on one of her missions of hope. As shown in her slide presentation, Haiti was is desperate need of assistance even then. Today, the devastation in Haiti make the recovery operations following Hurricane Katrina seem almost simple by comparison. Rotarians throughout the world continue to plan long-term relief efforts to aid Haiti's recovery.
