February is Rotary Ethics Month, and RCPC will be emphasizing the theme with its first two Friday programs. Feb. 5th will feature a unique 4 Way Test Speech Contest in which three finalists from Hillcrest HS will compete for the honor of representing our Club in the district competition (and for cash prizes). A week later award winning author and business consultant, Randy Pennington, will discuss the critical need for effective leaders to earn the trust and respect of others.
February will also be about community service and membership training. Dentistry with a Heart is a new unitive for our Club, and under the leadership of Dr. Michael Rainwater on Feb. 12th will provide a day of free dental care to the underserved at multiple clinics (including our own Dr. Roy Washburn's) around the Metroplex. Lastly, District Assembly on Feb 20th is the best way for new and old members to become equipped to be better Rotarians. If you'll invest your time in this Sat. morning workshop, the Club will invest the cost of your registration fee. Friday, Feb. 12th will be a Rotary sponsored day of free dental services for local residents suffering with dental pain but unable to afford proper care. Thirty RCPC volunteers in three shifts are needed to make Dentistry with a Heart a reality. Led by fellow members, Dr's. Michael Rainwater, Moody Alexander and Roy Washburn, RCPC is providing one of seven sites offering the free dental care on this very special day.

The forms outlining the new "critter pit" have been completed at the east end of the playground. Once completed the pit will accommodate three large concrete climbing shapes that will be especially fun for small children. Additional picnic tables and seats were also recently added to the playground made possible by a donation of the RCPC Foundation. The playground continues to be a great collaborative effor of RCPC and the Dallas Parks Dept.

Our RCPC Interact Club raised over $500 at a school bake sale to adopt several Angels at the NorthPark Angel Tree. They had a great time shopping for their "Angels"! Not only did they adopt some angels, but several members also worked shifts at Angel Tree alongside RCPC members. Thanks to Tracy Gomes and David Molliere, the Interact sponsor at HHS, for chaperoning and transporting these proud Interactors

The RCPC Board today approved a $1,000 donation from the Club's budget to fund the delivery of a ShelterBox of critical supplies to the people of Haiti. In response to the Club's action, RCPC members have now generously funding the delivery of FIVE additional relief boxes. ShelterBox was started 10 yrs. ago by an English Rotarian and works through Rotary's network of clubs around the world to deliver immediate and targeted supplies to natural disaster victims.

With the generous help of Kathleen's Sky Diner providing the meat loaf entree, RCPC members and spouses prepared dinner for the 70 residents now staying at the new and greatly expanded Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. It took a team effort to find all of the pots and pans and operate the new ovens in the new commercial grade kitchen. Join the fun every 3rd Monday evening of the month - we could use the help!

The Rotary Foundation's mission is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. To date, 60 RCPC members have supported the Foundation under the Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) sustaining membership program - about half way to our 2009-10 goal.

| The Club's goals as of the year's halfway point during the Jan. 22nd meeting. In July, the RCPC Board established the annual goals for membershp, charitable giving, service outreach and public relations and also set metrics for each. |
