Happy New Year GVR Rotarians, as the excitement of the holidays fades faster than that extra holiday poundage we turn our sights away from the cookies, cakes, pies, and candy to get back into the swing of things; it's only natural our thoughts start to resemble a checklist of all the things we want to accomplish in the upcoming year – call them reservations, personal goals, wishful thinking or just pure fancy, now is the perfect time to think about helping President Jamie and Glacier Valley Rotary meet some of our Rotary Foundation goals for the 2009-2010 Rotary year.

At the TriClub meeting in July, DG Bill Hopper awarded Glacier Valley Rotary an award for highest per capita giving to Foundation in District 5010. Last year, GVR contributed $16,831 to the cause. That is over $310 per person! Jamie Letterman, our new President, accepted the award with a smile and a nod to Leslie Dahl, last year's Foundation Chair.
At the Tri-Club lunch on July 15th, new DG Bill Hopper told a room of Juneau Rotarians that one of RI President Kinney's goals for the year is to eradicate polio and ease the PAIN! PAIN Stands for the remaining four countries where polio exists - Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Nigeria.
