Greetings from the officers and members of the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove. Our club was chartered in 1974, and today we are 37 members providing service and building community both locally and internationally. As part of a worldwide organization, we are beginning our second century of "Service Above Self". I invite you to take some time to visit our web site and learn more about us. If you live or work in the area of Buffalo Grove, Illinois and are interested in learning more about our service organization, please contact us. We would be happy to tell you about Rotary, why we belong, and how you may become a member. Our club is diverse in professions and religious backgrounds, but we all have a common bond - to make a difference in this world and enjoy fellowship within our club. Welcome to our website. John DuRocher, President 2009-10.

John DuRocher was installed as President of our club on July 2nd. We also recognized Otto and Renee Milan, who were one of the host families for Gabriel, our exchange student from Brazil, shown here with Martha Weiss, Inbound Coordinator for District 6440 Youth Exchange and member of our club.

Our club sent three members on the District 6440 trip to Guatemala in March, 2009. They helped out with constructing bunk beds, painting, varnishing, and generally improving the physical appearance of the boarding school near Livingston that was started by a Rotarian from Florida. In addition, they helped construct and deliver water purification units to the local villagers for clean water in every home.

Our district hosts 22 exchange students from all over the world to live in our culture and attend high school here for a year. Both the students and the Rotary clubs gain a lot from these exchanges. If you are interested in hosting a student, learning about a different culture and having a new member of your family for 3 to 4 months, please go to the website, www.rye6440.org for more information.
