Neither our Rotary Club nor District 5170 have been able to identify specific projects in Haiti to support at this time.
Rotary International has established a donor advised fund called the Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund to assist the victims of the earthquake. Rotarians have been appointed to oversee this fund and they will be working with other Rotarians in Haiti.
If you wish to help immediately, the Club Board of Directors recommends that you send your donations directly to this Rotary International Fund.
Or you can find details at Rotary International's Web Site.

Once again the wonderful members of San Jose Rotary have made a Rotaplast trip possible. Nine members of our Club will be leaving for Oaxaca early Monday morning on February 22nd. We feel very blessed to be able to go on the missions and work with the children in Mexico.
The pledges and commitments of our members have made this possible. Shelly McNamara as worked very diligently with outside fundations and companies to help make our goal. We are so close and we know that with the fulfilment of the pledges and some additional donations our goal of $65,000 will be reached.
Our goal is surgery for 100 children and the members of Club Rotario Guelaguetza in Oaxaca are working to prepare for our mission.
Please take time to view the web site that Karyn Sinunu-Towery will have up for our trip. The site is www.Oaxaca2010.com . Karyn recently relayed one of her trip memories of a boy in India who went into surgery with "Thank You American Angels" written on his hand. We will once again be creating miracles for these children.
Thank you San Jose Rotarians for the opportunity to go and be part of this miracle!

The meeting began with Karen Philbrick's invocation followed by President Rod asking for the introduction of visitors and guests. There were a number of Interact members attending and Paul Kantor made a plea for more volunteers to help his Interact committee. Paul mentioned that there are 90 Interact clubs in our district and that our district has the largest Interact presence in the world. Interactor Nicole Rubianes from Lincoln High School then spoke eloquently about her club's fundraising efforts and their need for event venues. Please contact Paul if you can offer support of any kind.
Shirley Lewis briefly discussed our annual event and asked all attendees to contact the office if you have specific requests related to those with whom you'd like to be seated.

Your contribution will help Rotary raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support
immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect
and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the
hardships faced by their families.
As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children
everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high. By donating now, you can help Rotary achieve a polio-free world.
You can down load the End Polio Now bimonthly news letter by Clicking On This Link. This is a separate download. It was updated Jan. 2010.
The bottom line is this: As long as polio threatens even one child
anywhere in the world, all children – wherever they live – remain at
risk. You can track progress on the internet at this link.
