The 3rd annual Canada Day Raft Race was a great success once again, due to the creativity and energy of the participants!
The co-winners of the race were Communities in Bloom and Goldstream Press. Thanks to Ashley Furniture for the eye-catching trophies ... you'll have to start strategizing for how to win them back! Communities in Bloom donated their $100 winnings to the Sooke Museum. Goldstream Press donated their $100 to the Rotary Club of Sooke. We hope your team member is ok after getting his own bell rung! The Sooke Councillors achieved their stated goal of not finishing last. Sorry Adrenaline ... but looking on the positive side, lots of room for improvement! The Sooke Fire Dept finished with much fanfare, with lights and sirens going -- surely grateful that their 600 lb raft did not sink. The Cubs did great with the raft most likely to be a seagoing boat. Add some proper sails and rigging, and you could do harbour tours. And the Engineers showed the continuous quality improvement that keeps Sooke moving forward... We hope that you'll join us again next year! |
