As we head into the Homestretch for SAW 2005, the final two SAW sessions have been rescheduled for Friday Nov 18 and Friday December 2. Our 4th SAW class (11/18) will teach the Pin Oak 8th Graders a little about how things REALLY work 'at work'. In the previous three sessions, we've covered budgeting basics, how to decide on a suitable job that best fits personal abilities and financial needs, and how to find and get that perfect job. The 4th session topic assumes that our SAW students have become employed, then focuses on what employers expect and how to KEEP a job once you finally get it!
Objectives for the 4th SAW session emphasize the importance of teamwork in the work environment and explore the nature of the employer/employee relationship. In past years, our students have been shocked to learn during Session 4 that employees cost employers more than they are actually paid! Highlights of the fourth week include student roll-playing of payday transactions and calculation of deductions for different classifications of workers. We're looking forward to another fabulous Friday with our enthusiastic Pin Oak charges!
