Family of Rotary ~ Burdzinski Daughter Wins State Bar Law Day 2012 Poster Contest
Bellaire Rotarians are proud of ANASTASIA BURDZINSKI (Past President Ed Burdzinski's daughter) for taking the statewide prize in her Kindergarten-Grade 2 category at the State Bar Law Day 2012 Poster Contest!
She received a medal and framed certificate from State Bar President Bob Black, and all the winners were treated to a lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers, ice cream sundaes, and a tour of the Texas Supreme Court and Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Her poster bested over 70 other entrants by depicting two islands - one with unhappy people in conflict below a dark cloudy sky, and the other populated with happy people in harmony under a protective statue of ‘Blind Justice.’ This year's theme for Law Day was "No Law, No Courts, No Justice." Anastasia advanced to the state level after winning the Houston Bar Association contest. Proud parents Ed and Agata Burdzinski are pictured (left) with Anastasia and State Bar President Black. The Burdzinskis hosted Rotary Youth Exchange Student Marie Kornek from Germany (photostrip left) during the third leg of her stay in Houston, and Marie is Texas-proud of her little "sister's" accomplishment. The poster contest was open to all secondary school children from Kindergarten to 12th grade, and Anastasia advanced to the state level after winning the Houston Bar Poster Contest. The competition also included essays, photography, and a division for special needs children. All the winning entries from both divisions were on display during the Austin ceremony. Anastasia's poster will be on display in First City Tower in Houston (home of the Houston Bar Association) through May 7th.
