"The gift of grant funding to the Police Department has made our park building more modern and usable for our police officers, as well as our many dedicated police volunteers that use it daily. I appreciate our local Rotarians tireless efforts, and contributions to their community."
In May of 2010 the grant review committee approved $2000.00 for the Police Department to help with electrical upgrades to the Police and FirePublicSafetyBuilding located in Coeur d'AleneCityPark. The funding was also designated for a new bike rack that will be built by the North Idaho College Natural Resource Class. The bike rack will be a functional art piece with a police theme that will be located next to the PublicSafetyBuilding.
Last year Coeur d'Alene Rotary gifted the Coeur d'Alene Police Department $1000.00 toward the Police Volunteer program. This funding supported the purchase of uniforms and equipment utilized by the police volunteers.
In 2008 Coeur d'Alene Rotary worked in cooperation with the Coeur d'Alene Parks Foundation and the City of Coeur d'Alene to sponsor the construction of, and fund drive for FallenHeroesPlaza. This magnificent memorial honors police officers, and firefighters killed in the line of duty.
It has become a place of quiet reflection, and remembrance for many people in our community.
Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self. Our enthusiasm and commitment of service continues to be evident as we support our local police officers.
