What is RYLA & why should your club get involved?

• RYLA stand for 'Rotary Youth Leadership Awards' & is a fantastic opportunity for the youth in your community to develop their leadership skills & learn more about themselves

What is the cost?

• $320.00
• Includes accommodation, all meals, indoor & outdoor activities, T-shirt, & all workshop materials

Dates, times, location:

• Arrival & room assignment:  Friday, April 15 between 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
• 10:30 meet & greet; ice-breakers
• 1^st formal session begins promptly at 11:00 am. 
• Departure with boxed lunches:  Sunday April 18 at 11:00 a.m.
• Location:  YMCA Geneva Park.  A beautiful natural environment located on Lake Couchiching, near Orillia.  Refer to attached map for location & directions.

Responsibilities of sponsoring Rotary Clubs:

• Identify up to 6 students to receive this award, ages 14-17 (secondary school students)
• Complete a registration form for each student
• Ensure pre-work completed by each student
• Provide transportation to & from Geneva Park
• Cover cost of registration, transportation, & any meals required during transportation
• Mail registration form(s) & cheque (payable to RI District 7010) to the Registrar by March 1, 2011 (see address below).

How do we get the best candidates for RYLA?

• Decide on selection criteria - current youth leader?  Interest in program?  Etc.
• Invite members of your local Interact Club to apply
• Ask members of your club if they have children, grandchildren, or other family members who would like to apply
• Promote at local high schools & recreation centres
• Create a press release for your local newspaper promoting the award
