President Chris welcomed all to Belmonts 45th birthday meeting
|
| President Chris Maddock welcomed all members, spouses, past members, spouses of past members and an especially big welcome to the widows of past members of the Rotary Club of Belmont. This list includes Shirley Bennett, Dorothy Dunn, Audrey McKenzie, Mavis Murray, Bev Pullen, Noel Tonkin, Olga Tonkins and Barbara Wallace. Chris also welcomed exchange student Anna. This night was to be a night of fellowship and fun.
Chris passed on apologies from Robyn Maddock who is in Queensland on Long Service Leave, District Governor Chris Sims and Assistant District Governor Maggie Isom. Chris said that there was a long list of apologies from past members and others who would have liked to come for the celebration but were unable to. He was going to leave this list in Joan's corner for members to view. Chris also mentioned Pat England, who although was not a member, looked after the catering for the meetings for twenty years. Welcome also to Vin McDermott who nominated Chris for membership. Also welcome to John and Pat Brogden.
Chris asked all present to sign a 'thinking of you' card for our Honorary Member Max Holmes. Chris then presented Betty Holmes with flowers.
Chris asked members and guests to look through the memorablia on the tables which included photos and old newpaper articles. |
