Fluro Recycling

Rotary to take on recycling Fluorescent tubes
John Nankervis spoke about a new program to recycle fluorescent tubes and the energy efficient light bulbs. Both these items contain mercury and it is not a good idea for them to go into landfill. The whole state is going to take up this program. John will find two businesses who will agree to become a collection point. The club members on a roster will collect the tubes and bulbs, give the business a new collection box, and take them to the recycling centre in North Geelong. The mercury is removed and the glass recycled. The proposal is that this program will start in two weeks. John would like one or two volunteers to help him set it up, then members will go on a roster for collection (if our Board endorsed the program).
