Remembrance Day Service, November 7, 2011
Editor: Saitz, Ray

Click to view image in actual size Our weekly meeting was the occasion of our Remembrance Day service.  Ken Seim played the Last Post, and Reveille after a moment of silence.   Raine, our exchange student from Finland  read “In Flanders Fields” and Peter Koeslag read “They Shall Not Grow Old”. Our guest speaker was Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Borland (pictured) who graduated from Adam Scott Secondary and received his degree in Military and Strategic studies from Royal Roads Military College in British Columbia. He has been stationed in many countries including Germany, Croatia, Kosovo and Afghanistan.  He opened with a visual tribute to the soldiers of WWI and WWII and followed with an interesting and often moving series of slides showing the harsh realities of serving in Afghanistan.
