ATTENDANCE: 13
QUEEN OF HEARTS: Lynn

OUR GUESTS: Dennis
Gaber and Judy Martin of the Nyack
Club: WELCOME!!!
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Tom started with a business meeting on the revised budget…target
is to get this finalized within the next 7 to 10 days.
Community Service Leaders: Regarding if you need any money
or anything you need please speak up (or forever hold your peace…)
Fundraiser Committee: Dave is going to take the lead and put
together key milestones and dates
Breakfast Payments: The head count has not been matching the
amount of money collected. We are aware some members arrive late and possibly
leave early so we ask that each member makes sure their breakfast is paid for
each week
Website: We received confirmation that our districts website
lost its link to ours and several others. www.clarkstownsunriserotary.org.
Link expired and was bought up, purchase was $500 and Tom negotiated it down to
$200. The owner of the URL released it to us and we are purchasing it for 3
years at that cost of $80.
Communication: Alex has spear headed this and discussed
several of the concepts she has for the communications plan. A draft will be
down by August 3rd to include promotion for who we are and what we
do on our website and facebook page. We wish to compile a list of club
accomplishments and will need help from all members:
- Past
President’s please forward the accomplishments for your year
- Marilyn
can assist with information about the formation of the club and
accomplishments of earlier years
- Jo and
Lou Ryla- any help provided would be appreciated
- Jerry
information on exchange students
- Marie
help on the international front
- If
anyone is looking for a program idea: Tom says he is not opposed to having
a brainstorming session where we as a club can list out what we have
accomplished
- If
anyone remembers or can find out if we retained the old registers to the
checking account
Lou Sinatra read a letter from our RYLA recipient which is a
wonderful letter to read
(attached) “These
were the best five days of her life”
Judy brought a hand crocheted blanket which an anonymous
crochet group is asking that we give to war veterans. The only condition that
these gifts be given anonymously. Jenny, Tom, Jo Lorie and other members took
(?) each and if other members would like additional blankets, Judy is to be contacted. We will distribute
them and just thank each and every veteran for their duty to our country.
Jo Lorie was honored to do the Installation for the Nyack
Club. And also gave a prayer on her brother-in-law who is still very ill. On a
happy note, her niece just adopted a baby boy Crosby, and the final papers were
signed and the adoption is finalized.
Laura had a wonderful vacation and also went to the Boulders
game for the VCI fundraiser. The cost was $25 for each staff member for a
buffet and they celebrated her grandson’s 15th birthday.
Tom got together with a fellow he grew up with and spent the
weekend adults only…no comment.
Lynn and Allan will be taking their son Chris to the Boulder
game for his 16th birthday and will have another celebration
afterwards.
Harvey—Linda is back
after one week with the grand kids and he is thoroughly happy about that.
Marie: Today is the 2nd anniversary of the
Taconic…there are all too many accidents on this parkway which should be
investigated thoroughly (poor signage???)
Prayer Buck for Steve K’s friend who is undergoing surgery
at Sloan Kettering
North Rockland is having a membership recruitment and
retention meeting on August 18th. Alexandria will attend.
THE PROGRAM:
Sandy Genette the Community Outreach Coordinator for Good Samaritan Hospital
Good Sam’s new slogan is, “A New Era,” and so Sandy gave us
very important information regarding
several new technology advances. One of the major advances is the digital
mammography which causes less discomfort to females ( all females present took
information). See attached.
Lynn Beers re: Hospital needs volunteers – they cannot go
that “extra mile” without the help of
wonderful volunteers. Anyone who can
give some time (or knows others, including teenagers…..) are requested to use
the attached form.
We know everyone received Lynn’s email about the tragic fire
and other unfortunate circumstances of a fellow employee at the Hospital. We know our members will step up to plate to
help in any way possible.
