Charter Member Vicki Stiles applied on the club's behalf for a District Simplified Grant to provide new signage for the recently relocated Shoreline Historical Museum. Last year's club board of directors had set aside some funds to do something for the Museum to aide in the relocation but had yet to spend the money. The 2011-2012 Board decided to apply for a grant to match that money and sought Vicki's advice (as Museum Director) to determine an appropriate need we could fill. It was determined, in conjunction with the Museum's Board of Directors' that new signage for the Museum would be ideal. Vicki also provided her assistance (as club member) in writing the grant. Former Club Member Mick Richards provided the bid for the new sign through his company Shoreline Sign and Awning. Nothing like keeping it all in the family!
In conjunction with the Rotary Club of Shoreline and the Lake Forest Park Club we applied for a grant to provide dictionaries to all third graders in the Shoreline School District. Word came down Wednesday afternoon (12/14/11) that the application was approved. |
