Cassie Hartsell, Countryside Agriculture Educator, brought six members of the Agricultural lssues Team to present a skit discussing the cost of food. Pictured below are Cassie, Callie, Soloman, Nina, Christian, Carly and Nick.
Each member of the team took a role in the food chain from grower to customer. The skit was written by the students and filled with facts from their own research. They talked about food costs, explored organic versus traditional methods, grass fed versus corn fed and talked about "food deserts", areas without fresh produce within one mile. The skit will be entered in an FFA competition later this year. The team has financial support from the Berrien County Farm Bureau. Best wishes to this outstanding team from Countryside Academy.
