| A Visit from District Governor Deniel Banks |
 |
At the August 9 meeting our club had the pleasure of meeting Rotary District Governor Deniel Banks. District Governor Banks' inspirational talk reminded us that we all have stories to tell about our Rotary experiences. Whether they're about the things we've done, the people we've met, or perhaps how we've been impacted by Rotary, our stories are what inspire others to want to join with us in serving the community!

DG Banks also spoke about the Ignite Membership Program. This program is a comprehensive membership recruitment, retention and extension program in Zones 25-26. Our club is in District 5100, in Zone 25, which is made up of 10 districts and 584 clubs.
As seen in the banner in the image below, the torch is the symbol of the Ignite program. From ancient times, the torchbearers have been the first on the paths of discovery, exploration and battle, illuminating the way for those who follow.
Rotarians in District 5100 have an opportunity to become torchbearers who will invite, unite and ignite new members whose fire and energy when combined with our current membership will help overcome the darkness of poverty, illiteracy, hunger and disease.
Eight Rotarians from the Camas-Washougal club stepped up and accepted Ignite pins from DG Banks. The pins represent these Rotarians' commitment to help increase Rotary membership and model the goals and principles of the Ignite program.
