The June 2012 Student of the Month, Danica Patriarca, is originally from the Phillippines. She was directed to Middle College High School by a counselor. Danica has been hoping to be the Student of the Month for some time, admiring the names and photographs on the wall at MCHS. Danica is a leader with the on campus group TQT (Teens Quitting Together) which is a student group in which students support each other in eliminating unhealthy habits. Danica herself has quit smoking through TQT. Danica has also been involved in the tutoring group that works with the kids at Northgate Elementary for weekly sessions. She has recently finished her senior project which was about studying to be a medical technician.

Danica didn't think she was going to graduate in June, but friends kept telling her to go ahead, and with a counselor's help, she made the grade. After school she hopes to work to make money to travel back to the Phillippines to visit her grandfather, then come back to Seattle to go to school. Congratulations, and best of luck, Danica! |
