Attending: Bob Allen, Pat Anderson, Carol Baumann, Charlie Baumann, April Carey, Keith Carpenter, Charles Cohen, Keith Dahlgren, Katie Dugan, Ed Jefferson, Les Metrovich, Dean Tedder, Scott Weaver.
Bob Allen led the pledge of allegiance, and Keith Carpenter said the Invocation.
President Les Metrovich began the meeting by embarrassing Keith Dahlgren with an article in Alaska Airlines magazine (brought in by Katie Dugan) with a picture of Keith in a play last summer.
Then we had Happy Bucks. Happiness included Keith Carpenter on the verge of tears about going to see Les Miserables this summer at the Fifth Avenue Theater, as well as the release of the movie of the play; Katie’s nephew has matriculated from medical school; Charlie and Carol’s grandson graduated and will be heading to Western Washington University (Charlie’s sweatshirt proudly said it all); Charles Cohen celebrated his first Father’s Day as a Grandfather; April Carey’s fiancé’s grandmother passed away, but it gave her an opportunity to travel to Georgia and meet her future in-laws; Bob Allen went to the state dental convention, and President Les had a night out with his wife and saw (and highly recommends) The Artist.

Carol’s Question of the week was about Juneteenth, the date that Slavery was finally ratified by the Union on June 19, 1863.
The Club sang Happy Birthday to President Les, whose birthday was the next day. Happy Birthday!
After lunch, Keith Carpenter delivered a great presentation on some of the Membership work ha had learned from the District Conference and the District Assembly. Keith passed out a Membership Survey to all the Rotarians to take home with them. Keith also surveyed the club verbally and took down the answers, and will report back in the future. It was another great reminder and push to bring in new members.

Scott Weaver, President Les and Keith Carpenter also reported on the Block Party this Sunday, June 24th, at the Oak Tree Plaza from 2 PM until 6 PM. Several Rotarians assured us they would be there, including Ed Jefferson, President Les, Bob Allen, Scott Weaver, and of course Keith Carpenter. Others said they would try and be there if and when they could. It’s a good opportunity to pass out lunch cards and invite local business folks as prospective Rotarians!
President Les also wanted to remind everyone to let him know about the Changing of the Guard next week, June 26th meeting, and to let him know if you have a guest. |
