| SMART Start Making a Reader Today |

| The Newberg Early Birds Rotary club supports the local SMART reading program through funding of the coordinator (along with the Newberg Noon Rotary Club) and purchasing books and donating them to the program in the name of speakers at our club programs. Our club won and matched a District 5100 grant to purchase additional books for SMART; these books were purchased through Chapters Books who were able to help SMART get the books at a reduced cost. There are opportunities to read with and to elementary school children during every school year. It's satisfying to experience each child's enthusiasm and progress. A significant number of club members regularly read to local students. |
