The Milford Rotary Club put on a fine feast of barbecued chicken with all the fixings for area senior citizens at the Souhegan Valley Boys and Girls Club on Wednesday, May 2nd. Guests came from all over the Souhegan Valley including Milford, Amherst, Wilton, Mont Vernon and Lyndeborough.
The Master Chefs of Rotary cooked up over 300 split broilers. Rotary alum Alice Wheeler was invited to share the blessing that traditionally begins the luncheon. Lesli Rendell and her team of Souhegan High students once again provided invaluable assistance manning the serving the trays, tending the beverages and pitching in wherever needed. Due to a slightly lower than expected turnout, there were some tasty leftovers donated to the Nashua Soup Kitchen.
For those of you who couldn't make it this year, have no fear there is a barbecued chicken event in your future! Chairlady Jane Lyttle and future Chairlady Judi Dunbar were overheard planning the 35th annual Senior Citizens' Chicken BBQ even before the birds were off the grill.
Bravo Jane for a fine feast and fun event!
