Flag Program Update
Click to view image in actual size Our Holiday Flag Program is progressing very well. Last Saturday, Bob Schamus, Bill Baker, and Carmen Cueno of the Astrodome Rotary Club. The three walked door-to-door in Southgate and gained eight subscriptions, bringing the total to more than 80. The next Flag Holiday is MEMORIAL DAY which will be observed next Monday, May 28, 2007. As always, click on the photo to see an enlarged image.
Self-directed teams of two volunteers each are needed to continue to canvass the Southgate neighborhood. The area has been subdivided into 30 to 40 home sectors. Each sector can be covered in less that 2 hours. Please contact Edna Rice to get your sector assignment - this will be a street in Southgate usually two blocks in length. Any Saturday or Sunday with good weather would be a excellent time. Based on our limited experience to date, a majority of the homeowners contacted will subscribe to the program. It is something they really want. The issue is that most of the time when one of our Rotarians is in the neighborhood, the homeowner is not home.

If you are hesitant to volunteer a couple of hours "selling" flag subscriptions because you may not feel confident in answering the prospect's questions, no worry. The flag brochure will answer all of the questions. One of the positives from walking the street and knocking on doors is the opportunity to discuss Rotary. You may be suprised as to how interested the residents are in learning about our service projects.

Try it!
