Rob Kelly described the gold panning opportunities in Cherokee County.

Rob Kelly established the Allatoona Gold Panners in response to the excitement and fun provided by panning for gold in Cherokee County.  He described the history of gold panning and mining in Georgia.  To our surprise he explained the availability of gold panning in local streams and creeks, from Lake Allatoona to streams near Bells Ferry Road. 

The Allatoona Gold Panners serves as a club to organize gold panning outings for all concerned.  Pictured here are President Jim Whitaker and Rob Kelly with a gold pan used in panning operations.
