Scott LeCraw was asked to represent Rotary Clubs on the Engage Gwinnett process. He has sent the following information to be shared with all Rotary members.
Greetings to all Gwinnett Rotarians. I am representing the Rotary Clubs on the Engage Gwinnett committee.

Engage Gwinnett is a citizen-led initiative where committee members will spend approximately six months looking at the community's needs for current and future government services and proposing funding strategies to pay for those services over the next five years. The effort is jointly sponsored by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Commissioners. The committee is comprised of 30 community stakeholder groups and 10 self-selected citizen members. We are meeting every two weeks with a goal of presenting recommendations to the Board of Commissioners that would apply to the 2011 county budget and possibly the 2010 mid-year budget adjustment.
A key element of the process is public involvement. All meetings are open and you are encouraged to sit in, observe and even participate if you are so inclined. I hope you will all participate and provide your input. Rotarians have always been leaders in the community and that leadership is needed now more than ever. Our county is facing some serious challenges due to the state of the economy and the nature of our tax digest; those challenges can be overcome, but it will take a community effort to do so. One thing is certain: we cannot keep doing things like we always have. So there will be changes. We as Rotarians can influence those changes, but only if we participate.
