President Ben Aranda presented an outline that will serve as the blueprint of the club's plan for activities focusing on what the club is all about - SERVICE. President Ben opened the meeting with an inspiring reading from a popular book by Pastor Rick Warren on "Service and Significance", which set the pace of the meeting agenda.
Some of the upcoming District activities were announced including the following: August 20th is the Youth Certification Program, September 12th is District Picnic at Redondo Beach and November 7th is the Paul Harris Mardi Grad at the House of Blues. More importantly the club will be preparing for the District Governor's visit on August 19th. And yet another event that is happening on August 7th is the Historic Filipino town 5K Run/Walk that the club is supporting. The five Avenues of Servic are the following: Club Service, headed by Cirilo Pinlac Jr., Community Service, headed by Jorge Prado, International Service, headed by Sonny Gancayco, Vocational Service by Leo Pandac and New Generation headed by Vic Ching. The club members are encouraged to select an Avenue of Service that they are interested to work with and contact the chairperson In his outline, President Ben covered three areas to jumpstart the members' involvement in the five avenues of Rotary service. They are: I) Vision - to identify our plan, organize our actions and communicate results to the rest of our members, II) Develop goals and objectives of Avenue of Service and Standing Committed,III) To be SMART ( S-pecfic, M-easurable, A-mbitious, R-ealistic, T-imely ) with our Goals and Objectives.
If there is one observation that will identify President Ben's term, it is focusing on less, but doing it well and where the adage "less is more", really means quality counts.
