These are notes from the meeting of Tuesday, July 27.

 

Rotarians and guest (Earl Haas from Littleton Sunrise) were greeted by Nancy Stalf.


Earl mentioned that Littleton Sunrise is currently selling peaches.


Our Moment of Inspiration was delivered by Elfi Smith.

 

We also welcomed our newest Rotarian, Leon Soloman.

Many happy Rotarians contributed to Happy Bucks, funds are added to the Littleton Foundation.

 

Rick Clark

Three classification talks were given today. The first by one of the most active Littleton Rotarians, Rick Clark who has been a Rotarian since 1980.  The second talk was given by Scott Taylor who grew up in Colorado.  Obtained his accounting degree from Kansas State University and has become an active Rotarian and appointed to the Board for the 2010-2011 term.  Welcome Scott and thank you for your work on the newsletter and weekly event display.  The final classification talk was given by Bob Young who recently joined Littleton Rotary following his retirement from more than 30 years with the USDA.  Welcome Bob, Littleton Rotary has many volunteer activities that can use your talents.

 

Dale Flowers had the winning number from the drawing but did not draw the Ace of Hearts thus increasing the pot for next weeks drawing.


This weeks speaker is Phil Beaver

A soldier's experiences on 9/11 from the Pentagon.  Of the 20,000+ stories from inside the building, this is just one of them.

Phil Beaver Bio:

Phil grew up in Santa Barbara, went to West Point after high school, and spent the next 25 years in the Army.  Started off in the Infantry, but after 10 years became an operations research analyst, spending his last 7 years in DC.  Retired in 2008 and moved to Denver to be near the mountains.  Phil and Kim have two daughters, Elaine (18) and Liz (16).
