President Larry called the meeting to order and welcomed guests and visiting Rotarians.  Ray Silva and Paul Tumason then lead us in singing God Bless America. 

"Wisdom of the Day" was delivered by Laura Beth DeHority and John McLeod did his usual good job. 

Rod Diridon then introduced new member Joel Maniaci and Joel graciously thanked us for his membership.

Frank Lutes, along with District Governor Roger Hassler then presented Paul Harris awards to many members of our club.  Rick Romney and his wife Hannelore were specially noted for their great work at the district level. 

President Larry announced the passing of long time member Joseph Gitin last week at the age of 104.  Gary Silver will give a eulogy of Rabbi Gitin on Sept. 8.

President Larry then introduced Assistant Governor for Area 5 Jose Radzinsky, who graciously introduced District Governor Roger Hassler.  The District Governor talked about many of the great programs run by Rotary throughout the world and he thanked our club for our fine work.  He specially noted the unique contributions of Dave Heagerty.  He was particularly excited about the Oct. 24 Avenues of Service event which will be held in San Francisco and will include a visit from the Rotary International President.  He also recommended the District 5170 Conference at the San Jose Doubletree Hotel in 2011 and the Rotary International Convention in New Orleans from May 20-25, 2011.

The District Governor and President Larry exchanged gifts---our club receiving a gift from the Rotary Club of Capitola and Larry giving a bottle of Bert's fine wine to the District Governor for the next Rotary Club he will visit.  President Larry sincerely thanked the District Governor for his visit and comments.

President Larry announced that our Fall BBQ will be held next week starting at 5:00PM (there will not be a lunch BBQ).  RSVPs are required-please contact Carol at the office.
