Jo Matheson, Sr. VP/Wealth Managemnt Comerica Bank Jo grew up in
West Los Angeles where as a young child her grandmother introduced her to the
entertainment world. Jo especially enjoyed dancing and joined a group
performing on stage. After her high school graduation, she pursued the world of
beauty and design. Jo soon learned she
had a knack for numbers and changed careers. She went to work for JC Penney in
the credit division.
In 1980, Jo would learn
that her life was about to change. Her husband was being transferred to
Northern California. So they bid farewell to the L.A. and made the trek North
with their young daughter, Jennifer. The Matheson family quickly grew to
appreciate San Jose and decided it would be their new hometown.
Jo stayed home to take
care of Jennifer for a few years, before entering the world of finance. She
joined Pacific Valley Bank in Cupertino in the early ‘80s working in the
operations division. She put her skills
to good use there and when she was promoted to a management position, she managed
several branches in Cupertino and Saratoga.
During this time Jo was
active with Cupertino Chamber of Commerce. She became an Ambassador with the
Chamber and was recognized for her outstanding efforts in membership drives.
After transferring to Saratoga, Jo became involved with the Saratoga Chamber,
serving as a board member and helping to organize “Celebrate Saratoga” events
in the '90s. She was also member of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Soroptimists.
In 1994 Pacific Western
was acquired by Comerica Bank. At this time Jo became Vice President with the
Private Banking Division in Downtown San Jose and in 2000, she was promoted to
Senior Vice President. Jo has stayed in wealth management because she finds it
extremely rewarding to help her clients achieve their financial goals. Over the
years Jo has worked with many non-profits.
Jo spends her spare time
being a novice at golf and enjoys spending time with her daughter who now lives
in Santa Clara. She enjoys reading a great suspense novel along with a glass of
good red wine and dog Oliver at her side.
