| Washington School Goes To SJ City College! |

San Jose City College welcomes the 5th Grade from Washington School with a big event planned especially for them. The kids toured Emergency Medical Services, Air Conditioning, the Laser Lab, Dental, Cosmetology, Contruction Tech, and Machine Tech. The day ended in the cafeteria where they were given a coupon for $6 and had to do a little math to choose their lunch. Their Rotarian guides met with the kids before the trip to talk about what they were going to see and after the trip to talk about what they learned. Everyone involved found the trip rewarding. This was the last SJ Rotary field trip of the year and completes the full range of educational opportunities for the kids to encourage them to stay in school and learn, math, English and science. This past year they went to Central County Occupational Center, San Jose City College and San Jose State. So the kids now have a full view of all their educational possibilities if they just stay in school. Additionally, you sponsored field trips to the Superior Court where they participated in a Mock Trial moderated by our own Judge Hansen and a trip to the Villages where they saw how all the skills demonstrated in the educational trips would come together in a career because of all the different occupations available at a global-like employment situation at the Villages. The kids at Washington School thank you for these opportunities.
