This
week, our speaker will be Bob Murphy. Bob is the President of RPM
Transportation Consultants, where he has been a visionary leader of this
innovative, award winning firm for over twenty years. He graduated with a
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of
Tennessee. Bob is a Senior Professional Engineer and registered in five states.
He is a certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer and is a
Registered Land Surveyor in Tennessee. Since forming RPM, Bob has
provided leadership for the firm on a wide range of traffic engineering and
transportation planning projects for public, private and institutional
clients. Bob is an accomplished engineer with a diversity of experience
that includes traffic impact studies, traffic signal warrant studies,
transportation master plans, traffic safety and accident analysis, parking studies,
ITS planning and design plans, traffic signal optimization studies, traffic
signal design plans, traffic signal system analysis, capacity analysis, traffic
calming, roundabout design, roadway geometric design, and intersection design.
Bob has a longstanding commitment to multi-modal transportation solutions and
sustainable design and he is well known for his expertise in bicycle and
pedestrian planning and design. One of Bob’s strengths is helping clients
successfully deal with complex permitting and approval processes and he has
extensive experience facilitating public meetings and making presentations as
an expert witness.
Bob has authored several papers on transportation planning and traffic
engineering subjects, has served as an adjunct professor teaching traffic
engineering, and is a frequent presenter at professional conferences throughout
the country. Throughout his career Bob has been actively involved in
committees and the leadership of numerous professional and civic
organizations. He has been received the following awards for his
professional and civic activities.
