Military Guest-Command Master Chief Don F. Ouellette. Command Master Chief
Ouellette reported onboard Naval Station Newport August 31, 2010. His
personal awards include four Navy Commendation medals and five Navy
Achievement Medals. He is also a Red Sox fan.
A letter was sent from the Newport School Department thanking Rotary
volunteers for their time in painting a shed at one of the local schools.
A letter was sent from the Town of Newport Recreation Department thanking
Rotary for sponsoring and volunteering at the Santa's Workshop held at the
Rotunda on First Beach.
Polo Club fundraiser meeting will be held on 2/2. An email will be sent out
with time/location of the meeting. Need more volunteers to help with
layout/proofing for the event.
Next week Million dollar meal will be held at the Newport library
Rhode Island General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo was the guest speaker during
the meeting, elected in November 2010, dedicated her first year in office to
redesigning Rhode Island's state-administered public employee pension
system. Raimondo's commitment to following a fact-based, honest and
transparent process, and not placing blame or relying on divisive rhetoric,
proved effective during these challenging times in Rhode Island. Born May
17, 1971, Raimondo is a native of Smithfield, Rhode Island. Raimondo is a
graduate of LaSalle Academy, Harvard University and Yale Law School, and was
a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. She resides in Providence with her
husband, and two young children.
