Begin With Rotary Foundation
November is Rotary Foundation Month. 1990-91 RI President Paulo V.C. Costa has said "Rotary International's masterpiece is The Rotary Foundation....It transforms our most daring dreams into the most splendid realities....The Rotary world and even the political world are already aware that The Rotary Foundation is the most generous expression of Rotarians generosity - a generosity that not only brings benefits but also brings help and cooperation to solve the problems that affect mankind....Only God achieves the impossible, but The Rotary Foundation achieves the best that mankind can possibly achieve." As Rotarians, we all know there are many good things that occur because of The Rotary Foundation. It can be said that there is atleast one Rotary Foundation program for everyone to embrace and support. As we observe Rotary Foundation Month, we contemplate individually as well as collectively as a Club work, sharing time, talent, effort and resources to support Rotary Foundation in the furtherance of world understanding and peace through its various international & local humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs. Here are few initiatives by our E-Club and Members:
- Our Club, as was done last year has given its annual gift to The Rotary Foundation Rs.10,000 [US$200] for Annual Program Fund. This is the total surplus from our club fundraiser of selling firecrackers boxes during Diwali fesival of lights .
- In honor of World Polio Day on 24th October, 2011, Rtn Prashanth Suravajhala and Rtn George Verghese joined me to donate a modest amount to Rotary Foundation - Polio Fund.
- Corporate Contribution of Rs. 10,000 [ US$200 ] to the Rotary Foundation Annual Program Fund has been received from J & J DeChane Laboratories Private Limited.
- New web page 'Rotary Foundation' with an explanation about contribution to Rotary Foundation Annual Program Fund and the options to make donations. Link to Rotary Foundation http://www.clubrunner.ca/Portal/SitePages/SitePage.aspx?cid=7442&pid=56282
- Coin / Change Boxes have been provided to Club Members to keep at home and work places while some more Boxes are kept at the work premises of the Vocational Service Awardees to drop small to big amounts. These boxes will be opened on 23rd February, 2012 the 107th Rotary Anniversary. The pooled contributions will be sent to Rotary Foundation.
Every Rotarian and Non-Rotarian certainly gets impressive recognitions and get noticed of any contribution made to Rotary Foundation. Rtn.Surya-Charter President - Rotary E-Club Of District 3150
