Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions Do you know what the Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions is? I thought I knew, but I was wrong. I just assumed it was the "4 Way Test", but it is much more. Below are the 8 points to practice as a Rotarian in Business. It is a lot more! Please consider the following 8 points. 1. Consider my vocation to be another opportunity to serve; 2. Be faithful to the letter and to the spirit of the ethical codes of my vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral standards of my community; 3. Do all in my power to dignify my vocation and to promote the highest ethical standards in my chosen vocation; 4. Be fair to my employer, employees, associates, competitors, customers, the public, and all those with whom I have a business or professional relationship; 5. Recognize the honor and respect due to all occupations which are useful to society; 6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community; 7. Adhere to honesty in my advertising and in all representations to the public concerning my business or profession; 8. Neither seek from nor grant to a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship.

Tensions are high!! The time is approaching!!
Only a few spots are left!! Yes, I’m talking about our opportunity to
participate in the FIRST 2012 Household Hazardous Waste event. Please
let me know if you can help a week from tomorrow, January 14, from 8:30
‘til Noon. Howard, Mary, Frank (the battry man), and Tom (the other
battry man) are signed up already so I need four more volunteers.
I want to reiterate what I have said verbally at
different times. We are volunteers and we are not expected to do
anything beyond our capacity. I am concerned about trying to lift or move
stough that is too big or too heavy. Nobody needs to prove
anything. Let the City guys do it, that is why they get paid and we
don’t.
As you know, gloves and glasses are provided. Long
pants are required (no shorts). I’m told that some of the guys have
really great legs. Too bad, you’ll have to see them some other time.

Promoting membership and retention in Rotary is largely influenced by the quality of programs and speakers your club has each week. Everyone has a busy schedule with several things to do and places to go, so it is important to give members good reason to attend club meetings and make Rotary a priority.
You can educate, inform and get members involved through promoting attendance with a variety of timely topics and well made presentations that are properly organized, interesting and enjoyable.
It is our goal to help you bring quality programs to your club by utilizing the Speaker Bureau.
District 5790 maintains a file through its website http://www.rotary5790.org of people available to bring programs to your club within the district. This has been referred by fellow Rotarians, and we are always looking for additional programs and topics to be added. We need fresh, new ideas, as well as a diverse group of members to speak to their expertise or interests.
We have talented Rotarians (new and seasoned) in this District that may have never thought about being a presenter. A few questions to ponder:
Who in your community?
What programs have you heard in the last year that has interested you?
Perhaps YOU are just that person!
For the coming Rotary year, we would like to make the Bureau more valuable and accessible to each club. Here are goals we have laid out:
1. We’d like to market the Speakers Bureau as an opportunity to bring “popular” speakers and interesting programs to your club, that, in turn could be a recruitment/outreach opportunity for Rotarians, and potentially attract new members.
2. Market & Promote! Better organize the online tool by projects and topics of interest. Make this tool more prominent and promote its use among members. Utilize current publications, District Newsletter, and social media (i.e. Face book) for potential program ideas and referrals. District 5790 has a FB page, as well as several clubs. Does yours?
3. And in order to meet these objectives, we need to survey members about programs and their utilization of the S.B. Generate input and ideas of what they like or dislike in regards to topics and gather names of those willing to participate. We would like to have varied topics and expertise that is a good representation of our District membership.

Did you know we have FORUMS? Well?
I know Brent and Bob do they have posted.
A forum is a cool place where we can talk about what ever we want to. A thread is a new subject. So if we wanted to talk about content of the website. You would make a new thread. Then a person would post a message to that thread. It's really simple.
I know what you are asking yourself. Where is the forum?
Login First, Then Look at the top of this page in the menu bar and just click FORUMS. I have made a new thread. I know you will want to post to it.
