| Bonjour Beaverton Rotary,
FRANCE IS GREAT! Bonjour Beaverton Rotary, I'm in a French newspaper! My host district (1510) did many things for peace two years ago with 250 exchange students, and they were from 50 different countries. They also built a fresque representing the exchange students joining together for peace with their cultural differences.

The Books for the World project has shipped more than a million pounds of used textbooks to four developing countries. Ten universities and several hundred schools in Uganda, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines have received books since 2002.The book project collects donated textbooks from schools, school districts, college faculty and students, bookstores, on-line booksellers and individual donors in Oregon and SW Washington and ships them in 40 ft containers to Rotary Clubs in countries where the books are needed. Our Rotary partners distribute the books to educational institutions and ensure that books are distributed free of charge. We do not buy or sell books. A US government program pays most shipping

"On Wednesday, May 27th, Club President Doug Taylor presented four
(4) academic scholarship awards at the Continuing Education of Young Parents
(CEYP)
Senior
Breakfast held at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Beaverton. President
Taylor congratulated the recipients on their achievements along with encouraging
all the CEYP students to pursue their educational goals through commitment,
determination and effort.

Now think about walking all day, every day, to forage for wood, keeping your kids out of school to join the search, or spending half your monthly income to buy it. In 3rd-world countries where getting by on less than $1 per day is commonplace, those are the choices. But there is a solution.
