Afghan Children's Songbook Project - Preserving the Past for the Future
The Rotary Club of Needham is looking for other Rotary Clubs to partner with us on this amazing Rotary International Matching Grant project. If you are interested, please contact Bill Paulson at 781-929-2453.
This project is to bring long lost Afghan children's songs back to today's Afghan children. The songs were documented in the late 1960's but many of them have been lost since then in Afghanistan. A songbook has already been created. This project is to burn music CDs so the kids will have music to go along with the words.

This Fall the Rotary Club of Needham is giving dictionaries to Needham's 3rd graders. So far it has been a big hit with both the kids and the team of Rotarians presenting the books. See the attached story for some of the quotes from the 3rd grader's thank you letters.

Two classes from the Hillside Elementary School in Needham came to visit Needham Rotary recently. They came to tell us about a great project they are doing to raise money for water projects in developing countries. Through UNICEF and area restaurants, they are asking patrons to donate a dollar for the water they get at the restaurant table. Those funds will then be sent to UNICEF to be used for projects to get fresh water to people that don't have it today.
