Because of the University Club's annual book fair, the regular meeting space is unavailable on December 2nd. We will be meeting at the Central Union Mission (1350 R Street, NW). If any members need transportation to the Mission, please contact Kate Ferry at kate@dcrotary.org or 202/331-8686. They have kindly agreed to transport anyone who would like a ride, from the University Club to the Mission and back again.
Our program that day will be a panel discussion with our members, John Jackson, Donnie Shaw and David Treadwell about the needs and opportunities for the underserved in the Washington Metro Area.

Thanks again to my co-writers Carl Gell and Jim Layton for helping me out at the beginning of the month and covering the Meeting in Review in my absence. I had the honor of sitting with President J.W.. He was "off-duty" as nominee Keith Strubhar showed us his presidential abilities. Keith called the meeting to order at around 12:35 pm today. Sergeant-at-Arms Ken Kimbrough led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and announced the birthday this week (see celebrant below). Russ Savage gave a very thankful inspiration today, reminding us to be grateful for the fall's harvest and the time spent with family and friends. Keith led us in a toast to our colleagues who joined us today from the Kiwanis Club and our friends at the Capital Hill Club (always great to see you Peter Kyle!). Here here!

The Club would like to say congratulations to Bob Johnson who just welcomed his second grandchild, Livia Jane Johnson, into the world last night (November 19th) at 7:40 p.m. His son is currently serving a tour in Iraq and was able to be "virtually" present through the magic of the internet and Skype!
His first grandchild was born within the last few weeks as well so their family is growing fast!

onday through Friday, the dress code in the Club is "business casual." Business casual for men, is defined as creased slacks (no denim), collared shirt (polo/dress shirt) and non-athletic shoes which is acceptable throughout the Clubhouse except in the Taft Dining Room for lunch and dinner, where a jacket is required for men. (Note: A jacket is not required in the Taft during the Memorial Day-Labor Day timeframe!) Comparable attire is required for ladies (no denim).
