Our Club has a long history of involvement with the youth exchange program when host families are available. In recent times we have hosted students from the USA and Japan and have sent out syudents to France and Switzerland. All these exchanges have been very rewarding for the students and the host families.
Our last incoming student, Kiyo, from Japan is now back home with his family and reports back that he has very fond memories of the time spent in Australia. Kiyo is planning a visit to Melbourne with the Japanese drum band he plays in.
Rotarians and Rotary Clubs have been involved in numerous worldwide Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM) projects since 1990. A decade later, malaria continues to be a significant health problem in many areas of the world. We have donated $2000 to the PNG "Adopt a Village" campaign and have just received our specific villages. We will continue to support this program which will improve the lives of many especially in our nearest neighbour PNG.To read about the programme go to... RAM in Australia more...
Our Club has a long tradition of involvement in the development of our local youth. We have supported candidates to the Seimens Science Schools, RYPEN, RYLA as well as making several youth citizen awards each year.
