In 2007, the Schaumburg Hoffman Estates Rotary Club pledged $250,000 towards the Alexian Brothers Children's Hospital project. On Friday, June 5, 2009, the Club presented a check for the first installment of $50,000 to Alexian Brothers.
"I'm extremely proud of our Board of Directors and the members of this fabulous Club for believing so strongly in this important project and being able to raise the funds, even in these harsh financial times," said Dominic Re, president of the Rotary Club.
The new hospital will be built on the St. Alexius campus in Hoffman Estates and will address the growing need for specialized care for children and their families in the Northwest suburbs.
The Schaumburg Hoffman Estates Rotary Club, with 92 members, will pay the gift over five years and is the only civic organization asked by Alexian Brothers to sponsor the new children's hospital. A section of the hospital will be named for the Club.
