In 2003 she established Highway 101 Communications providing branding experience and knowledge to small companies on the CentralCoast. Samantha Pruitt is a Certified Race Director, Triathlon Coach, ACE Personal Trainer and Endurance Coach. She was a chubby kid who never fit in with the local's active lifestyle and later in business, her body weight ballooned up to 185 lbs on her 5' 4" frame. She went back to school to study holistic health, later became a Certified Personal Trainer, took up running and lost 50 lbs. She has since embraced triathlon competition and has become a Certified Triathlon coach. This year she will compete in her first 140 mile Ironman Triathlon and 50 mile Ultra Trail Run.
Heather & Samantha are speaking today to promote the Central Coast Cancer Challenge, the idea of four women who have been touched by the throes of cancer in one way or another. They created the event to raise money for cancer awareness, treatment and support services. The event will be held Saturday, September 18th, LagunaLakePark in SLO from 7 am to 2 pm.
Participants may take off early on a bicycle 50K cruise or a 100K challenge. Open space trails of LagunaLakePark will provide the backdrop and courses for the 5K, 10K and Kid's 1-Mile Run. Their will be multiple sports events for athletes at all levels. The event will also include a Wellness Expo where business and community gather together for a place to learn about products and services that contribute to your well-being; from sporting products, to health screenings, to a massage tent and a children's yoga class on-site; the Wellness Expo will have something for everyone.
The event, presented by the Sierra VistaRegionalMedicalCenter, is a benefit for LIVESTRONG and the Wellness Community of the CaliforniaCentralCoast that support cancer patients, survivors and their families. A rockin' concert will follow featuring The Damon Castillo Band that the whole community can enjoy. |
