The featured speaker was Gani S. Abazi, MD, MPH. When Gani Abazi was a medical student, he experienced directly the Kosova War in 1998-99 and after the war he has been playing an active role for peace building and reconciliation. As a medical student he has volunteered in health care projects directed by NATO peacekeeping troops in Kosova. Gani is the first Kosova Scholar to be awarded the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship Award. He studied at Harvard University. Currently he working on a health policy research at the Department of Neurosurgery of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Children's Hospital on how to effectively develop neurosurgery capacities in post conflict developing countries.
